This week was a good week here in Winnipeg!! We have been really trying to branch out and try new things in our finding.. We have some lots of things not go well but its been good getting out of our comfort zones! One night we decided we would try singing hymns at peoples doors.. that was a fail. They either were very confused at what we were doing (which made it so we could not take it seriously), or they told us they didnt want us to sing for them, or we just sounded really bad haha. So I dont know if we will try that again. Another day we thought we could offer to rake peoples leaves.. the first person we asked said we could do it and then we realized we didnt have a rake. Whoops! We also tried putting a free Book of Mormon on the Facebook marketplace and got a couple responses, but then all the missionaries in the city were doing the same thing so it only worked for a couple of us. We will keep trying new things though!!
I went on exchanges with Sister Wilson this week! She is just a ball of energy! We had a fun day together! She came out with me so it was fun to spend some time with her again.
We started teaching another chinese family and they came to church yesterday!
Alice is still doing great! We had a couple lessons with her this weekend and she is excited and a little nervous for her baptism. She is so awesome though! Funny story.. We were practicing our mandarin on them and turns out we have been swearing at people in chinese the past few weeks. The way we were saying "Good-bye" was not correct. It makes sense now why people would give us weird looks when we said that and walked away. Turns out we were calling them a BAD word.. oops!
We also had interviews with President Hitchcock this week and what a special experience that was. He just knows exactly what to say and when to say it!! I am so grateful for him and sister hitchcock! He told me about how in his profession as an anesthetist one of his favorite things to do was give epidurals to women having babies. He talked about how he watches them go through probably one of the most painful experiences of their lives, yet the outcome of having a beautiful child is one of the greatest and most joyful experiences of their lives. We can relate this to us as well. Sometimes we have experiences that are very challenging, but if we endure the reward will be the most joyful. I also thought about how an epidural is like the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We have that to help us through our hard times if we use it! That doesnt mean the pain will completely go away but we will be able to endure it with a bit more ease if we turn to our Savior!!
